The Ambalapara Service Co-Operative Bank Ltd. (No. F-1512) was established in 1951 as a community cooperative institution in Valluvanad Taluk, Malabar District. Over seven decades, it has grown from a small credit society into one of Palakkad district's most respected cooperative banks.
Today we hold Class 1 Special Grade — the highest classification for a primary cooperative bank in Kerala — with over 1,50,000 customers, ₹500 Crore annual turnover, and a full range of banking and community services.
Founded as Ampalapara Vividodeshya Aikya Nanaya Sangham No. F-1512 under Co-operative Society Act VI, Section 10, at Valluvanad Taluk of Malabar District.
Initial function was to obtain a loan of ₹5,000 p.a. from the Co-operative Central Bank and distribute it among members.
Registered as Ambalapara Service Co-operative Bank. Board of Directors formed, replacing the earlier 'Panchayat Dhar' structure.
Started measuring paddy / rough rice.
Opened Ration Stores in Kadambur, Ampalapara, Cherumundassery, Vengassery, Akavanda, and Mulanhur.
Moved into our own building.
Started sanctioning Gold Loans.
Society formally grew into Ambalapara Service Co-operative Bank Ltd.
Present office building inaugurated.
Bank started earning profit.
Opened first branch — Vengassery Branch.
Started distributing dividends to members.
Opened second branch — Nellikurissi–Mulanhur Branch.
Main branch extended to 12 hours (8 AM – 8 PM); other branches 8 hours.
Attained Class 1 status.
Upgraded to Class 1 Special Grade — the highest classification for a primary cooperative bank in Kerala.
