A farmer-focused Onam initiative connecting local produce directly with the community

A separate Onam market is currently being conducted through Onavandi, a new scheme that collects vegetables directly from farmers within the bank’s operational area.

Vegetables, groceries and essential goods at reasonable prices during the Onam season

With the onset of Onam, the bank’s Onam Chantha becomes a grand market. All kinds of vegetables, groceries and other essential items are made available to the public at reasonable prices. People travel long distances to purchase products from the bank’s Onam market, and the bank also makes every effort to provide various special offers.

Held annually during Chingam (August – September). Exact dates are announced each year.

Vishu — Padakkachantha

Affordable Vishu firecrackers made available to nearby communities

As Vishu celebrations approach, a firecracker market called Padakkachantha is organised under the leadership of the bank. Through this Vishu cracker market, firecrackers are made available to people in the nearby areas at very low prices.

Educational materials at affordable prices before the beginning of the academic year

There are concerns among the public about rising prices and business practices, but education should never become a burden. Before the start of every academic year, the bank conducts the Students Market in association with Consumerfed. PRS Loan

Support for eligible farmers

In coordination with Civil Supplies and the State Government, the bank successfully completed the approved PRS amount distribution for eligible farmers in its allocated area. The bank is proud to have successfully implemented the government’s latest pilot project for PRS distribution through cooperatives.

Oxygen Concentrator

Corporate Social Responsibility initiative

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, an oxygen concentrator has been set up within the bank’s working area to support the healthcare needs of the community, particularly during challenging times.

An oxygen concentrator is a medical device that concentrates oxygen from the surrounding air and provides a steady supply to people who require supplemental oxygen therapy because of respiratory conditions or other health concerns. This initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of local people.

Drinking Water Project

Water for people, birds and other living creatures

The bank consistently strives to deliver diverse services every year. One notable initiative was the provision of drinking water for birds and other living creatures during the intense summer months. Water was placed in bird-friendly receptacles at all branch premises, offering much-needed relief.

As part of its social responsibility initiative, a 10,000-litre water tank was also installed to ensure a steady and reliable supply of clean water to the community.

Farmer’s Welfare

Modern practices, awareness and recognition

The bank provides many services that benefit farmers. Farmers were introduced to modern farming methods, and a farmers’ seminar together with an exhibition of farm implements was organised on the occasion of Farmers’ Day. Farmers who continue to use traditional farming methods were also honoured.

Environment Day

More than 2,000 fruit-tree saplings distributed

Every year on Environment Day, in addition to government-sponsored tree saplings, more than 2,000 fruit-tree saplings of different varieties are distributed free of cost in collaboration with the Forest Department. Trees planted by the bank ten years ago now provide shade at hospitals and along roadsides in Ambalapara.

Social Interactions

Education, healthcare and community support

The bank conducts and supports a wide range of social initiatives across its operational area.

  • An anti-drug awareness seminar was organised with the Police Department to educate the younger generation.
  • Newspapers worth ₹1,50,000 are distributed free of cost to schools in Ambalapara and Lakkidiperur Panchayats to encourage reading habits. Books are also supplied to public reading rooms and school libraries.
  • Essential items including rice, condiments, clothing, candles, matches and blankets are provided to victims of monsoon damage in Melur, an environmentally sensitive area within the bank’s operational area.
  • Palliative-care patients in Ambalapara Panchayat receive assistance, including free Onam kits, rice, condiments, vegetables and Onapudava. Food kits are also provided during Vishu and Bakrid, together with wheelchairs and water beds when required.
  • Facilitation programmes are conducted to encourage students completing Classes 10 and 12.
  • A home was constructed under the Care Home Project.
  • A television was donated to Government Hospital, Ambalapara, as part of the bank’s social responsibility.
  • Technical and financial assistance was provided to Ambalapara PHC for IP ward modification work.

Support in Crisis

Standing with the community during emergencies

The bank has consistently extended a helping hand during major crises.

  • ₹10 lakh was donated to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund in 2024 for the Wayanad landslide.
  • During COVID-19, the bank worked with Ambalapara PHC and Lakkidiperur Grama Panchayat to distribute gloves, sanitiser, PPE kits and oximeters. The bank’s ambulance and oxygen cylinder were provided free of charge to Ambalapara Panchayat for two months. Free oxygen, BP apparatus, vaccination cards, gloves and sanitiser were also supplied.
  • One month’s salary of employees was contributed for Kerala flood relief.

Thaneerpandhal

Summer drinking-water support

During summer, drinking water is supplied daily through the government’s Thaneerpandhal scheme to help people cope with extreme heat. Many members of the public benefit from this initiative. Water is also supplied to areas facing shortages through two large water tanks.

Mobile App

MY BANK — launched on 21 June 2016

The Ambalapara Service Co-operative Bank launched its own mobile banking application, MY BANK, on 21 June 2016. It was the first service cooperative bank in Ottapalam Taluk to introduce a mobile application.

The application offers prepaid and postpaid mobile recharge, electricity-bill payment, DTH recharge and electronic fund transfers including EFT, RTGS and IMPS. Customers can also start Fixed Deposits and Recurring Deposits from home without visiting a branch. The app is available on Google Play, has a four-star rating and is approximately 31.15 MB in size.

QR Code Scanner

Quick and secure digital payments

The bank’s mobile application includes a QR code scanner for quick and secure payments, making transactions more convenient for customers.

In collaboration with ICICI Bank through the Eazypay application, the bank also provides a separate QR-code facility. This allows even people who have not installed the bank’s app, including non-customers, to make payments by scanning a QR code. The feature has been well received and has contributed to the growth of digital transactions.

Extending QR payments to local institutions

As part of the bank’s effort to promote digital payments across different sectors, QR codes have been provided to local establishments and temples so that devotees can make donations and payments easily. Sree Panayurkavur Bhagavathi Temple and Kizhur Kaali Kaavu Bhagavathi Temple are among those using the bank’s scanners.

Cloud Computing

Secure, resilient and regulation-ready banking

For the secure adoption of cloud computing, the bank has collaborated with Postiefs Company, which successfully installed the cloud system. Cloud operations help the bank meet evolving regulatory reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Cloud-based analysis of large amounts of data from diverse sources supports fraud detection by identifying potentially suspicious or dangerous activity before it causes damage.

The bank has a legal responsibility to protect highly sensitive customer data. Cloud providers follow strict privacy and security requirements, providing multiple layers of protection against cyberattacks and data breaches.
